What to expect after hydroseeding

Young grass seedlings sprouting from dark soil after hydroseeding in Knoxville

At first, the sprayed area should look like an even blanket over the soil. Keep that surface consistently moist without creating runoff or puddles. Germination can look uneven at first because the seed mix may include varieties with different germination times and because sun, shade and soil temperature vary across a yard — something an experienced East Tennessee hydroseeding contractor plans for from day one.

UT Extension recommends mowing tall fescue in a roughly 2–3 inch range and avoiding removal of more than one-third of the shoot at a time. Read the UT lawn guide.
